about

Not all my music has to be complicated so this was an attempt at writing something the band could play with little to no rehearsal. However, it soon morphed onto something which required quite a bit of rehearsal! Hahaha. Hence the punny title (ie: afraid not).

The basis of much of the 1st tune (cuz there are actually 2 tunes) is a common reduction based on the Ta Din Gi Na Tom phrase, the importance of which cannot be emphasized enough in South Indian rhythmic practice. If you wanted to know the reduction, it is basically:
Ta . . . .
Din . . . .
Gi . . . .
Na . . . .
Tom . . . .
Ta . . .
Din . . .
Gi . .
Na . . .
Tom . . .
Ta . .
Din . .
Gi . .
Na . .
Tom . .
Ta .
Din .
Gi .
Na .
Tom .
Takitatom . Tadinginatom

Each syllable for 5 pulses, then 4, then 3, then 2 and a 10 beats phrase to end it.
