about

A very Carnatic piece, which has been elevated by the presence of Sri Trichy Sankaran and Kaushik Sivaramakrishnan. The title derives from the raga Amritavarshini which informs all the melodic and harmonic elements. Muthuswami Dikshitar (1775-1835), a major composer from South India is said to have invoked rain in the village of Ettayapuram (Tamil Nadu) by singing his composition "Anandamritakarshini", set in this raga.

Features a blistering mridangam solo by Sri Trichy Sankaran
